The process of turning
To create a bowl, I need to cut a bowl blank from a log. The blank is attached to my lathe and spun while I use various chisels to shape the inside and outside of the bowl. After the bowl is turned, it is coated with wax and put in my kiln to dry for 6 weeks. The kiln is an old refrigerator that has a light bulb inside for a heat source. After the bowl has been dried, it is sanded out. Finish is applied and then the completed bowl is waxed.
